Two suspects in a Harare cyber fraud crime were recently arrested in Bulawayo after being alleged for swindling 5 companies in Bulawayo of an amount of R 1.7 million. This was all done through cyber crime.

The masterminds are brothers by the name of  Norman Nompilo and Nkosilomusa Mkululi Mpofu of Chisipite. They had allegedly started a hoax company which was actually registered in 2006. The company as supposed to cater to advertising, web design, web hosting, IT consultancy, telecommunication and broadcasting services.

In 2009, the pair developed a website called Isocom which was registered with a South African company called Ample hosting.com. They were able to get 10,000 megabytes of storage with this account and then went on to become web host themselves. With this huge facility they were able to create as many website as they wanted from their Isocom website.

In the same year the pair started creating hoax websites for companies where they used to get orders and make payments for goods supplied. In the same way the pair created a website for a ghost company by the name of Sandawana Gold Mine. The fake company was supposed to be located in West Nicholson and even letterheads, invoices and other official-looking data were created.

Similar attempts were made for another company and finally the pair was nabbed in Bulawayo recently to end their cyber crime once and for all.
