Partnership between Reckspace and Akamai
Rackspace, a web hosting service, made public its strategic alliance with Akamai Technologies, Inc. recently. Akamai provides cloud computing facilities and will be able to further its offerings with the help of this partnership.
The company proclaims that it will now work out ways to bring up additional facilities for Akamai like CNAMEs, Secure Socket Layer (SSL), and CDN for Cloud Data. Plus, Rackspace will resell a part of Akamai’s space and application deliverable to its own clientele. The end result would be the creation of a one-window hosting operation for web hosting and cloud computing services.
Akamai’s internationally prevalent network has met user expectations many times with its high-class cloud optimizing services for businesses. The integration of Akamai’s services with those of Rackspace will make for a solution to 4 basic problems encountered by companies wishing to avail cloud facilities: latency, access, scalability and a secure connection.
The company suggests that Akamai services will take care of latency and make sure for easy availability of cloud services by propelling 77,000 servers spread across 71 countries. This also provides a lot of expansion options, economies of scale and a fool-proof security system. Consequently, the businesses will get lower charges, increased sales, and productivity for hosting applications.
